Hypnotism and Meditation For Acne?
Monday, January 4th, 2010Stress has often been determined to be a common
trigger for acne. It supposedly worsens acne breakouts. When a person
is under stress, the hormone cortisol is released - too much of
cortisol is believed to impact the severity of acne, although it still
remains as an observation that stress may result in more extreme cases
of acne. There are many ways to treat stress to prevent further
acne breakouts - some of these include meditation and hypnosis.
Cognitive imagery has also seen success in treating acne. These
techniques help reduce the amount of stress a person is going through,
but as to whether these specific techniques improve skin condition is
uncertain. If you believe stress is causing your acne, one of
your first options is to try out meditation to calm your body. This
isn’t a cure to acne but rather a treatment to reduce your acne back to
the way it was. The basic techniques for meditations include first
finding a quiet, comfortable location to sit. Close your eyes, and
breathe naturally. Focus your thoughts on nothing, or focus it on your
breathing. This procedure usually is done for 20 - 30 minutes. Whether
or not it helps your acne is up to you - keep positive thoughts and it
may actually help clear your acne.
Hypnotism has also been tried
to reduce stress in an individual for the treatment of acne. It
supposedly calms an acne sufferer, and the hormone levels will return
back to its original state after treatment. This will reduce
inflammation and hopefully return the skin back to normal. There is no scientific evidence proving these two techniques benefit acne, but it is relaxing.
