DNA testing is one of the best tools often used to prove the relation between a child and the supposed father. DNA testing is a scientific method; sometimes also known as parentage testing that is used to check whether a man is the biological father of a child. Scientifically, when a baby is born, half of his or her DNA comes from the father and the other half of the DNA comes from the mother.
Performing a DNA test is a highly scientific process that requires state of the art technology and the right expertise to ensure the accuracy of the results. There are many steps involved in completing DNA testing starting from the DNA sample collection all the way to the issuing of the final result.
In the process of paternity testing, DNA, usually in the form of a mouth swab, is obtained from the child and the supposed father. The samples are then taken, compared, and analyzed through several scientific tests in order to determine if the father is the biological father of the child or not. The sample of the Mother should also be included in the testing where available although the test can still be performed without this sample.
Once the test is finalised a DNA test report will be issued with the result of the test. This will normally indicate either a 0% probability of paternity, meaning the alleged father is not the father, or alternatively a percentage of up to 99.999% confirming the paternity. Depending on the result, the participants of the test may decide to take action on it or otherwise.
