5 Things to Remember to Successfully Lose Weight
Monday, March 8th, 2010Before you even begin to think about dieting or getting to an exercise, start with your mind first. What your mind can believe your body can achieve. If you have the correct mindset and attitude towards your diet, then there’s a high chance that you’ll succeed. The following thoughts, when all followed sincerely will definitely get you results.
1. Believe in yourself. You may not realize it but your mind is powerful. What you conceive in your mind as your reality is your reality. People who do the extraordinary have one thing in common and that’s an indestructible will. They have so much faith in what they can do that they don’t let anything bar their path. If you want to lose weight, believe that you can and you will.
2. Be realistic. No, this doesn’t mean that you can’t aim for high goals just don’t expect results overnight. If you have been 100 pounds overweight for the last 10 years of your life and expect to shave that off within a week. Think again. Losing weight is not a race, on the contrary its developing healthy habits that make you lose weight, and that takes time.
3. Now is the time. Don’t wait for the perfect time to start with your diet. There is no perfect time. Either you do it now or you are bound to keep it off forever. Procrastination is a common bane for those who would be weight “losers.” Like the nike ad says: just do it!
4. Allow yourself to fail. Yep, you read it right, don’t go to the self pity route where you tell yourself you just can’t do it if you missed. If you failed to stick to your diet today, so what. Do it again tomorrow, continue where you stopped. A note though, don’t try to make up for it by doing more tomorrow since you missed a day. That’s a recipe for disaster. Just graciously accept and forgive yourself for faltering, then commit to starting over the next day.
5. Be optimistic. I know, this is repeated too many times but if you really want to get results why not believe in yourself any way? Optimists are the people that make a difference in the world, pessimists see too many obstacles. If somebody puts you down, do not believe a single word, just keep on moving forward and focus that you can do it. It doesn’t hurt to try.
